Assistant Operating Manager

Following a number of internal promotions and moves we are now looking to recruit Assistant Operating Managers to work across London, exact locations are not yet known, so it is important that you are able and willing to work at any of Go-Ahead’s depots.

As an Assistant Operating Manager, your primary role is to effectively support the Operating Manager with the day to day garage operation.  This will include influencing the performance of operational colleagues, ensuring that they have the required skills and knowledge, to be able to deliver a safe, punctual, reliable, cost effective and efficient service that takes care of every journey.

Some of the principal responsibilities are detailed below -
• Responsible for supporting the management of Operational Colleagues to ensure they deliver a consistent customer focused service.
• Responsible for supporting the coaching of operational colleagues, ensuring that any training needs are identified and acted upon, particularly in ensuring complaints are reduced and improvements are made in the Customer Experience Survey. 
• Support the Operations Managers to ensure that all Operational colleagues have job chats as a minimum annually.
• As and when required assist with undertaking basic fact-finding interviews and disciplinary hearings, issuing an award or considering alternatives.  Disciplinary hearings should be viewed as an improvement mechanism and not as an opportunity to dismiss. 

We are looking for flexible and adaptable individuals who are able to work across London and ensure the garage has management support 24/7.  You will proactively support the Operating Manager in the achievement of performance particularly in relation to customer service and reducing complaints and officials reports.  Ideally you will have experience of supervising a large group of employees, preferably in the bus industry and will understand the financial implications of decisions you make.  Additionally, you will possess strong communication skills both written and verbal as you will need to communicate with a diverse workforce.
