Description

We will be running over 160 buses from our new site and are looking for an individual with experience of network planning and a hands-on approach.
 
We want someone who can identify areas of concern and provide input into possible solutions, with the ability to create networks and schedules that are cost-effective and customer-responsive.
 
The role
Reporting to the Head of Operations the purpose of this role is to identify and develop opportunities to provide an efficient and sustainable bus network in the Manchester area.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities will include:

• Continuously reviewing the network to maximise revenue and customer service and minimise costs and inefficiencies.
• Engaging and consulting with customers and other key stakeholders on reliability and matters affecting reliability, such as roadworks.
• Liaising with Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), the Traffic Commissioner and other key stakeholders, as required and in a timely manner, to ensure effective relationship management.
• Responding to enquiries and liaising with customers on behalf of the company, principally on service planning and quality matters.
• Liaising with the operations and engineering teams on service delivery matters to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Balancing competing priorities between tendering, schedule deadlines and service quality.
• Managing the schedules team, co-ordinating the workload to ensure deadlines are met and schedules produced to the highest possible standard and in line with service requirements and scheduling agreements.
Qualifications
Skills, knowledge and experience
As an experienced senior manager, you will be comfortable taking a leadership role.
 
You will be highly organised but flexible about your job and able to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
 
You will also be confident of your ability to influence at all levels, up to and including the Managing Director, as well as having good listening and customer relations skills, to pick up issues and influence towards favourable outcomes.
 
You will also be an excellent line manager, setting high standards but alert to issues within your team.
 
You will nurture developing talent, providing support and guidance to team members who want to develop their careers while, at the same time, not overlooking those who do not want to progress beyond their current role.    
 
You will need:

• An excellent understanding of schedule compilation;
• Understand and be familiar with the Omni scheduling system;
• A thorough understanding of service planning and its main influencing factors.
• A strong interest in public transport.
