Stores & Logistics Operative Apprenticeship

About this job

Want to be involved with the latest automotive technology?

Go Ahead London’s buses are on the Capital’s roads 24 hours a day, these vehicles cost anywhere between £125,000 – £300,000 and are equipped with the latest technologies and innovations. We expect them to be maintained to the highest standards and ready to go into service at a moment’s notice. With vehicles becoming increasingly complex, the role of the parts operative is crucial in ensuring the right part is selected and delivered on-time, every time, to avoid costly delays.

To achieve this we are looking to recruit an Apprentice Stores & Logistics operative that is highly motivated and has the ability to communicate well with others, as well as being able to learn and understand various computer-based applications and systems. On-the-job training is provided in our Procurement office, as well as in our garages, which means that you learn from a more experienced member of staff. Offsite training is provided at college on residential block release. The individual will obtain an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship Level 3 in Vehicle Parts Operations.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements are minimum grade C passes in GCSE English, Maths Science and ICT.  At Go Ahead London we look for a strong motivation to learn and a passion for the automotive industry. All applicants for our Apprenticeships go through a robust selection process which includes testing and interviews before finally being offered a position on our Apprenticeship scheme.

Earn while you learn

We offer a very competitive rate of pay for this post (GM01) which is currently £387.60 for a 38-hour week. Other benefits include 20 days annual leave, rising to 25 days after 5 years of service, free travel on London buses and underground and a contributory pension scheme after a qualifying period.

Driving requirements

Successful applicants who do not already hold a valid Full UK driving licence will be required to do so before the end of their second year as it is a requirement that our vehicle technicians hold a PCV licence, and this can’t be achieved without a valid Full UK Licence.

Applicants should clearly state any dates when they will not be available to attend an interview.
